Blues with a symphony orchestra? Somehow she gets away with it.
She could play Marilyn Monroe if she had - - - - - - - - St James Infirmay.Katie Smith . Corvallis-OSU Symphony Orchestra https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8tIbQ3UwzOA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hT2pL4FNlpI Last edited by Ayn Marx; 05-26-2022 at 05:50 PM. |

Here’s a link. There’s a number of recordings by Lee Hooker on the web but this one , to my ears is the best, especially the way the bass is recorded.

Nice guitar sound in that performance, Plankton. As you prob know, the presenter at the beginning is Alan Price - keyboard player for The Animals and a guy who knew his way around the blues pretty well. This performance is a little rough around the edges, but AP really keeps the whole thing driving along:-

He's definitely up front in the mix. Good stuff.

I don't know what happened to the vocal track, but the guitar comes through the way I like it: sharp and clear.
As we seem to be doing Brits playing elec blues live, I'm jumping forward a decade or two for this a tasty one:- In fact I saw Stan Webb live round about this time, as I remember him wearing some kind of wrist support. Didn't stop him working hard all night though.
