Seems like they would be a blast live.

Music IS
Album by Bill Frisell

Frisell’s 2016 release When You Wish Upon a Star was so ****ing bad I didn’t want to forgive him. I don’t remember listening to his 2017 release, Small Town but Music IS is a decent recovery. It’s not free or avant garde though. In fact, it’s William Ackerman-ish. Could go in the ambient thread as a new age outlier but here it is so here it is. Recommended

Chula - I doubt you read this thread but I figure you’d like this one...

He's worthless without Zorn behind him based on what I've heard. Does he have any standout solo/bandleader performances or albums that might make me question that? I gave up on him pretty early.

He’s got one where he plays with Dave Holland and Elvin Jones

2001

I also like Good Dog, Happy Man from 99 but idk maybe I just like the title

Edit: his stuff w/ Paul Motian is most likely his best

tfw you almost always like the covers of avant garde garde albums, but rarely the music within

EDIT: I even once had an artbook with the drawings of the artist who did the cover for the one OH posted just above now that I think of it.
