I've only heard a moderate amount of his stuff, what I've heard is great, although I hear he's kinda sold out (or maybe just decreased in quality) in the past 20-30 years. Anyway, good stuff by him would include his being with Miles Davis throughout the 60's, he played in the second great Miles quintet (with Ron Carter, Wayne Shorter, and Tony Williams), and stayed with him into his fusion years (Bitches Brew, In a Silent Way, etc., although he's joined by other keyboard/piano players on these albums, namely Joe Zawinul and Chick Corea). Of his work under his own name, my favorites are Maiden Voyage and Mwandishi.

Damn, you're right. He's not on the regular versions of either Silent Way or Bitches Brew, I thought he was because I have the complete version of Bitches Brew, which features him on a couple takes. He is on a Tribute to Jack Johnson, Live-Evil, and On the Corner, though, maybe a couple others.

Cantaloupe Island is one of the most smooth jazz songs I have listened to. It just has a groove that can't be beat.

I just saw Han**** touring with Lionel Loueke, Nathan East and Vinnie Colaiuta in May. That was seriously the best concert I have ever ever been too. Songs came mainly from Maiden Voyage, Head Hunters and his new album. After that I became convinced that Colaiuta is the greatest drummer ever.

Herbie Hanc0ck
Noticed the lack of a Herbie Han**** thread. He deserves one as many already know. Never mind it was under c0ck.
I would say hes one of my favorite Jazz composers, up there with only a few others. Thrust, Head Hunters, and Maiden Voyage are all I have heard but I am slowly expanding on that. EDIT: Will A mod please fix the bleeped out words.
