Does anyone Miss Blues and Old\School Blues Rock?

Hey everyone, really happy and honored to just have joined the Music Banter community. My name's Matt Loguidice, I'm a 23 year old Blues and Rock & Roll Singer & Guitarist who's based out of Astoria, Queens, NY. For the last few months, while playing out at clubs and bars around NYC, I've been constantly wrestiling with question: "I wonder if people will ever dig Blues and Blues\Rock on a Pop Music Level again?" similar to like what America and Britain saw in the 60's and early 70's. So I turn to the good people, music lovers, music makers and everyone else to help me find the answer. Do you think, the music I'm doing could make a come back? I can attach some links to a lot of my work on YouTube and a live recorded gig on SoundCloud, but unfortunately the site said I have to make 15 posts before I can post any URL's, would anyone like to hear them? Any feed back and or input wold be much appreciated. Thank You and Best Regards!

Joining MB to promote your music is prohibited and will get you banned, so you should abstain from posting links.

As for whether Blues Rock will ever become popular again... Don't think so.
Music is becoming more and more diverse, so the really popular Pop has to be the absolutely lowest common denominator. This whole diversification process might get reversed at some point, but it's hard to imagine how and when this will happen.

Thanks for the input

Hey thanks for the input Grindy, and thanks for the heads up. I hope everyone doesn't think I'm just trying to spam my music on here, If people are still interested they can just google my name. I definitely won't paste any URL's on here in that case. However, I am still really interested on people's thoughts of where these Genre's stand in today's music world. I can understand what you mean about the slim chances, but we have to take people like Gary Clark Jr and Joe Bonamassa into perspective, who are both becoming household names in Popular Music these days.

There is a pretty big scene for blues right now outside of the mainstream. Much of it blends genres, like blues and rock, blues and punk, folk blues, country blues, etc. Ten Foot Polecats are a good example. Possessed by Paul James is another. Bob Log III is one of my favorites. As far as old school blues, like the original Delta bluesmen, I wish it was still a strong style of music. One of the last truly great bluesmen, T Model Ford, passed away a few years ago. Personally, I am a huge fan of Blind Willie Johnson, Mississippi Fred McDowell, Robert Johnson, Elmore James, Nina Simone, and the like.

One of my favourite blues bands who are still playing...

Blues and Blues/Rock--your post is music to my ears. My influences are: Led Zeppelin, Fleetwood Mac (Peter Green), Cream, The Allman Brothers Band, Hot Tuna, John Mayall And The Blues Breakers. As far as this music returning there is a small handful of us that live for this music. However, Music Generations has changed so dramatically, there isn't a demand for Blues/Rock coming back any time soon. Hip Hop and Rap is the normal today. The music business has changed with it's technology whether we like it or not. In addition, there are far too many albums coming out daily. The competition is so fierce today. Back in the 60s and 70s there were only a small percentage of bands as opposed to today. Unfortunately it's all bad. But keep up with the faith. As it's been said, "History repeats it's self".

Bluesfool, Thanks for your Reply. I really feel the same way but I'm happy to know that I'm not alone!

The blues will always be there for sure, whether it comes to the forefront again, I think it could in a fashion.

It depends on how long someone wants to sit there and practice for these days, kids have different things to keep them occupied.

Playstations and the like, but it will always be there for sure, that new band Greta Van Fleet are carrying the torch recently.

The Batlord 11-26-2018 02:33 PM

Damn Playstations. Keeping down the blues.

MicShazam 11-26-2018 02:35 PM

I want a nation wide study: How many blues fans own a Playstation?

The Batlord 11-26-2018 02:36 PM

They need to play the blues at a bus station.

MicShazam 11-26-2018 02:37 PM

But they don't.
Damn bus stations keeping down the blues.

The Batlord 11-26-2018 02:39 PM

People so consumed with their station in life. They need to play the blues.

Oriphiel 11-26-2018 02:48 PM

I sure got the blues when my Playstation 3 got a yellow light of death

The Batlord 11-26-2018 02:49 PM

I got a Playstation 4 for $100 and got taken down to the station cause it was stolen. Then I played the blues.

Oriphiel 11-26-2018 02:53 PM

I went down to the crossroad,
Fell down on my knee,
And asked the lord above for mercy,
Please fix my PS3.

****in thing won't even spit out my copy of Dino Crisis.

The Batlord 11-26-2018 03:06 PM

You can play PS1 games on a PS3?

MicShazam 11-26-2018 03:08 PM

Yup. It can't use the memory cards, but you make virtual memory cards in the PS3 menu, so it's very easy.

The Batlord 11-26-2018 03:15 PM

Holy ****. Can you do that with a PS4 too?

MicShazam 11-26-2018 03:17 PM

No I don't think so. Because Sony decided to be lame about it.
PS3 just used software emulation. I don't see why they couldn't just have converted it to the PS4 OS. Laziness.

The Batlord 11-26-2018 03:20 PM

****ing whack. I was thinking about getting a PS4 at some point and actually having a current console for one of the only times in my life but PS3's being able to play PS1 games (and PS2 games presumably) is pretty enticing.
