New to jazz...
I'm new to jazz music and I would just like to know if anyone has any bands or musicians they would like to suggest. So far I've been listening to Dave Brubeck, John Coltrane, and a bit of Thelonious Monk. Does anyone else listen to Tortoise, or Sam Prekop, or Jim O'rourke? I've recently gotten into them as well.

I don't know if its me, but I tried some coltrane and it was really slick and over produced. I don't know if thats all his stuff but it really put me off. Go Davis, I think he stays strong throughout.

An acquaintance of mine recommended I started listening to Tortoise, that's how I got into them. And I think I have heard of that Medeski band and enjoyed it. If only I could actually find their album in stores, as I am not able to download music.
And thank you everyone for their very good music suggestions : ) |
