Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes
Anyone a fan of Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes? I like his older stuff like albums "At Least We Got Shoes" and "Better Days".

Nobody? :(
He's a New Jersey guy. A club singer that started out doing a lot of 50's covers. |
Hey I dig Southside Johnny. I saw him and the Asbury Jukes once many years ago at the Stone Pony in Asbury Park, New Jersey. They put on a great show. You could tell that they were enjoying themselves as much as the audience was enjoying them. In my opinion, those first three (largely R & B) Lps were the best they ever did. But hey, I'm an old guy, so you can take my choices with however many grains of salt you wish. Of course, when you have friends like Bruce Springsteen and Little Stevie Van Zandt and those friends write songs for you, you've got a real leg up. In any case, Yeah, I'm a fan. I do occasionally listen some of the later and/or more recent stuff, but I keep going back to "I Don't Want To Go Home", "Hearts Of Stone" and "This Time It's For Real".

Closest I've been to seeing them live is a DVD. :) Those songs you listed are some of my favorites too. I also love the remake of "Walk Away Renee". His "Better Days" album is my personal favorite.

Yeah, "Walk Away Renee" is well done. The individual songs I listed are great, but I was referencing the first three LPs by those titles. All three albums are Classic bar band R&B. They are LPs that I can sit through and enjoy every note played. Rooster |
Lol, I really like "This Time It's For Real" and "I Don't Want To Go Home" songs too.:p:
