I'll probably sound like a d.ouchebag, but I think Clapton made real, genuine music. His music feels real, like he enjoys making it.
Stevie Ray Vaughan may be very technically sound, but to me his sound is terribly uninteresting, and he comes off as very pretentious, and it just seems like he was trying to sell records. I scoff at the suggestion SRV could be classified as soul. My soul feels nothing but patronized when I hear him. Patronized by a world full of older people who say, you will consume us, whether we're good or bad. But yet, I never consume it. I change the dial on my radio faster, when he comes on, than he could ever be at riffing his guitar.
