Jazz and Turkish Music
Hey,
are any of you into Dave Brubeck? I find that his Rondo a la Turk is interesting for adding a modified Turkish 9/8 pattern into a jazz song. I found the original Turkish pattern(dokuz sekiz), played specifically in Karşılama and Roman Havası styles. (I can't add URLs as I'm a new user...) |

I love Brubeck. Definitely my favourite jazz artist. Blue Rondo a la Turk is especially interesting, because the standard 9/8 time signature is counted 1-2-3, 1-2-3, 1-2-3, whereas Brubeck's is 1-2, 1-2, 1-2, 1-2-3.
