Yeah i must say anything of robert johnson is good, but my fav. must be Big Bill Broonzy - C.C. Rider.
I suppose now is the time to say "im new around here", and wow, great to know there are lots of other blues fans out there. Does anyone know anything of "Jean Brady". As far as i know she recorded 2 songs with Big Bill Broonzy and thats the last that was heard of her. What a great voice she had. |

"you can't lose what you aint't never had" and "she's nineteen years old" are my favorite muddy pieces. i need to be in the mood for "mannish boy" or any of his other more traditional songs. in fact...
blues is moods anyway right? i can be in a certain mood and really crave what ray charles called 'dirty blues.' something like winter's "murderin' blues" for example. or need to boogie with a version of "walkin' through the park." the version of walkin' i'm partial to is a chicago bluesman named big daddy kinsey. the wailing harp, as i recall is billy branch and it sets my teeth on edge and raises the hair on my neck. damn! favorite? it's all good if you ask me. |
