I'm not a fan of John Mayer not in the least. I don't think of him as Blues. I think of him as Pop Rock. He's a playboy who holds a Stratocaster and appears in Cosmopolitan magazine. But that being said welcome to MB.

I don't know... I never seen him do anything that draws me in or wins me over to his style. Granted he has devoted and loyale fans, so then that's all that matters.

People seem to forget that while sure he writes typically really boring pop music and such today, many of the songs on his older albums have some ****ING INCREDIBLE guitar playing. Even his first album he made in his bedroom at 16 is ****ing hard to play for most people playing their entire lives. He can play Hendrix and Vaughn incredibly well and his live shows reflect that. While you may think he is a deuche, you must at least respect the chops and voice this guy has.

I don't think I "must" do anything, to be honest I gave him a try once or twice and I just couldn't bare it. I understand he has fans and I understand they like him.

Rez I only spoke of my opinion of John Mayer, there isn't any reason to resort to name calling.

This is my point. I cant stand anything Dan Petrucci plays and I certainly dont like him. But the man is still a guitar virtuoso that I respect his talent.

Agree with RezZ on this one. I think Mayer has proved he has the capability to play very complex music if he so chooses. The dude can shred on a strat and even though I think a lot of the music he writes and puts out is lame and mushy love crap. I also respect the fact that at any time he wants he can raise the intensity to a higher level and just jam away, and make it sound good. Plus he bangs a lot of hot chicks so he's figured out his angle with guitar. I wouldn't question his passion for guitar cause you dont learn to be able to play like that just over night. One of my favorites that he does below. Dude can play I dont think anyone can argue that but you dont "have" to like him. Everyone has different taste but imo I think he's pretty good with a strat.
