John Mayer chooses to be a soft rock/pop rock artist, for the most part. The blues stuff he has done, however, is simply amazing, and shows he's really one of the best blues guitarists of this generation, even if he is a total twat :laughing:

i did. i actually watched the whole thing. he's definitely got skills. but as i said before, his doucheyness utterly corrodes any possibility of enjoyment for me, and that's why i didn't comment.

those 7000 people he cited as being reason to believe (basically) that blues is not dead were probably 90% drooling idiot women who don't know a thing about blues. and i don't mean by that that women in general don't have good taste in music, but there are certainly artists that make the bank on sex appeal.

The songs that I've heard from Mayer definitely seemed Soft Rock. I think Blues is a really particular sound that he just doesn't fit into.
