I also think he has at least one dream a night that he is Dave Matthews... and maybe that's the problem :)

That was meant to be funny, everyone... no offense. My view of music is that if you like it, then it's good music in your world, and that's fine.

I have never considered John Mayer being blue-related whatsoever. Hardly even rock. I'd put him more in the pop category, or the adult alternative/soft rock chart label, whatever. Current mainstream artists I would be inclined to think of as blues-influenced rock would be more along the lines of The Black Keys or The White Stripes.

John Mayer's music kind of sucks though, to be honest. If I wanted to hear this sort of thing, I would rather listen to Dave Matthews Band, who have at least a few good tunes here and there.

I like the way you think, Kelli!

^ Thanks. Not gonna lie, I liked some of his 90s/early'00s singles. Where Are You Going, Crush, Space Between, etc. I remember he had a concert in my city once and one radio station played only his music the entire day. If somebody asked me what I thought of them I'd say they were a good band. I've still got some of his albums on cds. On the other hand, I feel like John Mayer is more of a popstar icon for teenagers who find his music as an alternative to other top 40 singles dominated by hip-hop and rap. To each their own, though. Either is preferable to other popular crap on the radio nowadays such as Nicki Minaj, at least in my book. xD

I love everything dave matthews. I seriously can never find anything wrong with anything he or his glorious band does. And Boyd Tinsley = love. Did you ever go to a live show, Kelli? I've been to four and I would go again in a heartbeat!

What did you think of "Away From the World"?

No, I never did. A couple of my friends went one year but I remember putting the rest of my summer concert money into a trip to Kings Island. Although, he's played in Cincinnati and Louisville a number of times so really I have no reason to not have seen them by now! I liked "Away From the World," but not as much as the '09 album. It did have some good songs on it...I'll have to listen to it again!

We're a bit off topic but I totally agree with that. Big Whiskey had some catchier tracks for sure. :) Is there a DMB thread somewhere?? Maybe I should start one so I can go on about this more. And moooore.

He's a total creeper in real life.

misspoptart 02-05-2013 02:37 AM

You mean John Mayer? Because he's creepy enough in his songs, let alone real life! "Your Body is a A Wonderland?" :nono:
