Been listening to this album, it's kind of spotty, but when they're on it they really slay me.

Badbadnotgood - III

Loving this record, I much prefer all original songs then what they did prior with their first two releases, which are still great albums, but they don't top this one. These guys need to come to Florida.

And by the way, I think Thrust is my favorite album from Hancock.
Great album, steeped heavily in the early 70's funk and syncopated rhythm.
"Butterfly" is exotic and sensual.
Another favorite of mine by Hancock is "The New Standard".

Google "gospel songs", find out what direction you want to go in,
and go for it.

Start with Monk's "Abide With Me" from Monk's Music. Then listen to "This Is My Story, This Is My Song", (aka "Blessed Assurance") a bonus track from Straight, No Chaser. I'm still looking for "We'll Understood It Better By and By".

Then, when you're ready to get down to business - Pastor T.L. Barrett And The Youth For Christ Choir "Like a Ship... (Without a Sail)"

That's what gospel's all about, even though this is more of a spiritual.
