It's supposed to be a collection of new songs and covers...

I know his solo career is hit or miss, but someone recommended it to me.
Looking at that song lineup on post #5, this lp DOES interest me!

MrdOOd is right. His solo career is hit or miss, but I still like him! I was lucky to see the Allman's in three different decades, the first being 1973. Later that year his first solo came out. It took me a while to get used to Midnight Rambler with an orchestral backup, but was won over. There were a few moments of bad decision (the lp with Cher), but there would be an album of resurgence (I'm No Angel). Forty three years after the first ABB album was released, Gregg is still cranking out product. Good for him!!

I think his solo album Laid Back is great. I recommend it.

Im going to look into some more of his latest stuff. But im not at all impressed with his lead guitar player. The riffs and runs and bends are the same in every song I listened to. He never ventures out of the pentatonic and just tries to cover it up with speed as the solo progresses. It ends up sounding forced and repetitive to me. I guess I could be being over critical but I would expect Gregg Allman to have a little higher expectations. I enjoyed the saxophone and keyboard far more than the guitar work. Though his vocals have have obviously aged they meshed soundly in "Floating Bridge" Wish it had just a lil more raw sound to it but ehh. Ill still give some more of his stuff a try.

Not active enough. They're playIng like 10 shows at the Beacon Theater. I don't understand why they're playing so many there in such a short time. Then they're playing wanee fest and all good fest. I'm going to be vert upset if they don't come to Texas sometime.
