Hi, Blueslady! Sounds like you`re a fan of elec blues guitar, which is not so common in a girl: Welcome to MB !

I`m pleased to see you mention Walter Trout, who deserves more attention than he receives - which also applies to the person that I repeatedly champion here; Roy Buchanan. Have you listened to him much?

I like Robert Johnson....but then again I mostly listen to my own recordings. There are many super guitar players who are not known for the blues but can play the blues...Steve Morris comes to mind. I grew up in Texas and got to play with many of the great blues players over the years. I am a old guy and had the great pleasure of being part of the Texas blues world. Sometime that world was pretty hard and more than a little ugly. Out of all that came a sound that has had a huge influence on most of popular music.

When it comes to improvisation, Clapton was way better than Hendrix.

I forgot to add to my earlier list someone else who belongs there: Robert Cray

I'm also going to have to check out Walter Trout, since I see a couple of mentions. And, like blueslady I'd already had Rory Gallagher on list (who's not mentioned often enough & he influenced so many thereafter. Madho1 also agree w/several of your mentions (in my list, too); excellent pick of Alvin Lee, who I shouldn't have forgot, since I just recently checked out on youtube!
