So you weren't aware of Bitches Brew first? That's what got me on this kick because it reminded me of Miles Beyond and how that track sounds like an electrified BB.

Nope. My mom was all about Sinatra and my dad was a Country fan. I had to work backwards from Mahavishnu to understand the roots of where it came from. You dig Return to Forever?

Ja I love most things Chick Corea. I've always liked Mahavishnu more though.

Mahavishnu was mayhem exploding in the moment, while RTF was perfection exploding every now and then.
You should check out "Mind Transplant" by Alphonse Mouzon. Tommy Bolin still blows my mind 45 years later.

The first time I listened to Mahavishnu, my jaw dropped at the Noonward Race. The way the multi-tracked guitars fade in from opposite stereo channels literally feels like two cars coming up alongside me in a race! Also Jan Hammer just lets loose on that track, gotta love it.

We need a fusion category
Was looking to post about "Between Nothingness and Eternity" by the Mahavishnu Orchestra and couldn't find a home for it.
Got a really cool story about this live album to share.

*laughing loudly*
Thanks. A close friend of mine (RIP Kabuki - miss you so damn much) was in the crowd at Central Park when this was recorded in 1973. Cobham's roadie came out every 5 minutes to pour a bucket of water over his head. It was insanely hot and humid that night. The drums never missed a beat.
