Yeah, Mahavishnu's a great band, probably the best non-Miles fusion group, in my opinion (interestingly enough, almost all notable fusion groups had ex-Miles Davis sidemen as leaders). I'm not a huge fusion fan (outside of Miles' stuff, Bitches Brew is my favorite album), but early Mahavishnu Orchestra is some fine stuff indeed. I've only got Inner Mounting Flame, I'll get Birds of Fire one of these days. McLaughlin's one of my favorite guitarists.
And I also, despite listening to mostly jazz these days, still listen to **** like the White Stripes (not too big of a fan of **** like System of a Down, but everyone's got a right to listen to whatever **** they want ). |

The first time I heard 'The Inner Mounting Flame', I nearly fell off my chair!
WHAT THE FU** WAS THAT!!! Never been anything like it- before or since... Now that's a reunion I'd like to see....
