Don Cherry
OK, after listening to 'Symphony For Improvisers', and 'Oreint' I'm pretty much sealed in the concept of assuming that this man not only a well accredited Jazz God, but an exceptionally noteworthy musician in general. A man who, during his time, was extremely well sought out. Working with names like Ornette Coleman, and Coletrane. Also a very strong element in the sound of my hero in all music, Sun Ra.
However, not to overlook his solo work with his ingenious really formula breaking jazz which floors me on listen: |
^ Interesting clips, Ska Lagos Jew Sun Ra. I`m not so keen on Don Cherry`s more free form stuff, but I love his Brown Rice album. Did he ever make another one like it ?

Well, here`s the title track from Brown Rice, which, despite the video date, was actually recorded in 1975. Not sure where that places it in terms of his musical career, though: -
PS, I`ve just worked out that you are the artist formally known as Skaligojura. Congratulations on the facelift ! |

I also really REALLY like that song. Edit: Damn... it's too long. |
 Bad luck on the subname !
I`m glad you liked the clip - the album has some great trumpet play by DC, although it`s only about 35 mins long. |
35 minutes? that's usually a length of a track for the man. Still, that's why I love him.
