Maybe I skimmed too quickly, but I don't think anyone has mentioned BADBADNOTGOOD.
I'm horrible with sub-genres, especially when it comes to jazz, but I would describe them as a modern day jazz/fusion band?

Start with the the album "III", work your way through "Sour Soul" - either version...both are great. One is an instrumental, but the original has Ghostface Killah rapping over the music. The album "IV" is also phenomenal. Everything after those three albums didn't really catch my attention.
