I remember when my middle school teacher first told me about Miles Davis. I could never have imagined how amazing he would turn out to be man.... great stuff. I have been listening for a while now.

In A Silent Way and A Tribute To Jack Johnson are my favorite Miles records. I know, I know, it's blasphemy to not include Kind Of Blue. I guess I'm keener on his fusion leanings.

Miles is one of the first jazz musicians I got into a while ago while trying to expand my tastes. I dig everything by him I've heard, and my favorite really depends on my mood, but I first listened to Kind of Blue. Miles was a huge influenece on me to check out new Jazz and such, so much respect to him forever.

I just heard Generique for the first time and thought it was one of the most introspective and moving pieces of music I've heard in a long, long time.

The whole soundtrack album "Ascenseur Pour L'Échafaud" is wonderful.

Kind of Blue is definitely one of my favorite jazz records. I've never really gotten into any other Miles Davis for whatever reason.

As you can see by my name, Kind of Blue is not only my favorite Miles Davis album, but perhaps also one of my favorites of all time. Other albums I like include Birth of The Cool, Sketches Of Spain, E.S.P (by Miles Davis Quintet) and Bitches Brew. Wishing for In A Silent Way among other fusion albums he made. Trying to get into the genre.

Bitches Brew is ear sex.

Though pretty much everything I have by him is wonderful. Some of his live stuff from the 70s is intense.

My introduction to Davis was from his later work, 1980s electronic studio pyrotechnics with Marcus Miller and George Duke. From there I worked backwards. Maybe as a result, I'm fondest of the 1986 Tutu album, though it sounds like Davis came a long at the last minute and just jammed (rather well) over the backing tapes. Maybe that's all that could be expected given his health and general situation at the time. Of course the much earlier Kind of Blue is a favourite too.

Forgot to add above, does anyone think these late 1980s Davis albums are effectively Marcus Miller releases, with Davis as special guest trumpeter? Just a thought!
