So, after all the rave about Live-Evil, I had to put it on. I threw it on the record player while I hopped in the shower. I was watching my roommate's kid at the time (he's six), and I left him in the living room with some video games. Moments later, I hear a tap on the bathroom door. As tiny muffled voice says, "Uh, Caaatthy? What's that noise? It sounds funny." I didn't know what he was talking about so he repeated, "That noise is coming from your room. It goes wahhhhhh, waaahh." I poked my head out of the shower to tell him it was Miles and was immediately faced with a terrified look on his face. He didn't leave my side for the rest of the night.

relevant to this, here's Julian Cope on Miles' "Agharta"

"Agartha opens with the soberly-titled "Prelude", a twenty two-minute wa-wa-wa from the bowels of the Mother Earth. Miles opens the ritual with a super groovy now-where-have-I-heard-that-before organ every-riff which sounds as though he's playing the tune of Dr. John's "I Walk on Guilded Splinters" in a Funkadelic's "Music for my Mother" stylee. Then, we're coupled to a long freight train with a cargo bound for the heart of the every-desert.

You wanna know the sound of this Mongol horde nation on the move? It's wa-wa-wa-wa-wa-wa-wa-wa-wa-wa-wa-wa-wa-wa-wa-wa-wa-wa-wa-wa-wa-wa-wa!!!!!!! "

I remember when my middle school teacher first told me about Miles Davis. I could never have imagined how amazing he would turn out to be man.... great stuff. I have been listening for a while now.

In A Silent Way and A Tribute To Jack Johnson are my favorite Miles records. I know, I know, it's blasphemy to not include Kind Of Blue. I guess I'm keener on his fusion leanings.

Miles is one of the first jazz musicians I got into a while ago while trying to expand my tastes. I dig everything by him I've heard, and my favorite really depends on my mood, but I first listened to Kind of Blue. Miles was a huge influenece on me to check out new Jazz and such, so much respect to him forever.

I just heard Generique for the first time and thought it was one of the most introspective and moving pieces of music I've heard in a long, long time.

The whole soundtrack album "Ascenseur Pour L'Échafaud" is wonderful.

Kind of Blue is definitely one of my favorite jazz records. I've never really gotten into any other Miles Davis for whatever reason.

As you can see by my name, Kind of Blue is not only my favorite Miles Davis album, but perhaps also one of my favorites of all time. Other albums I like include Birth of The Cool, Sketches Of Spain, E.S.P (by Miles Davis Quintet) and Bitches Brew. Wishing for In A Silent Way among other fusion albums he made. Trying to get into the genre.
