Almost forgot about the great Teddy Wilson. Check out any of his playing with the Benny Goodman groups for starters.

amen to Tyner, Monk, Han****, Jarrett, Evans and Tatum. Nat King Cole and Ray Charles were also pretty amazing--though they seem to be remembered more for their singing they were both steeped in jazz piano.

was gonna also mention Nat Cole. Obv his piano was overshadowed by his voice but he was a great pianist

I quite like Red Garland, especially the albums he did with John Coltrane and the album Groovy by the Red Garland Trio.

Bump...

Been really digging Fats Waller's music lately. Very versatile jazz pianist who adds a bit of variety into his compositions... His stage persona was also a bit weird/quirky, but I like that.

I've been listening to a lot of Art Tatum (who Waller referred to as "god" at one point) and Cecil Taylor as well. So... any fans of these guys?
