Default Weather Report

Wow, no thread yet about this magnificant jazz fusion band, but I am sure, that you all know about it.
Weather Report was a jazz fusion (funk and latin sound were the main parts of that fusion) band in the 70s in 80s, it's most famous members being Zawinul, Pastorius, Shorter, Vitouš, Moreira (also a member of Chick Corea's Return to Forever), Mouzon... We have all heard their songs like Birdland, Teen Town, Elegant People, Badia etc.
So, your opinions on it? I was very suprised to see that there was no thread yet (at least search didn't come up with anything).

Strange that nothing came up in the search. I mentioned them in another somewhat recent thread here :

http://www.musicbanter.com/jazz-blue...ion-group.html

And I see them getting mentions here and there now and then. Something probably went wrong with the search I don't think they have their own thread yet, though, which is about time.

Like Antonio, my favourite album from them at the moment is Black Market!

Yeah, nothing came up in thread's search .
And yes, Black Market is also my favourite one, altough Heavy Weather helds a special place in my heart, since it was their first album I heard (and immediately fell in love with WR).

I've mentioned them once, I think when I first arrived. Though I only own I Sing the Body Electric, Heavy Weather is my favorite.

They were performing in Slovenia a few times, my father was on two of their concerts (with Jaco); he took some photos on one of them, I was looking at them yesterday, it looked like a magnificent concert. He also said that Jaco looked kind of tired, but still playing geniusly.

Listening to the debut album, and it's gorgeous. The significantly calmer, and more sensible Mahavishnu Orchestra. Even if I do prefer Mahavisnhu for it's trail-blazing virtuosity, Weather Report certainly is an achievement of it's own. A very nice, relaxing, deeply music record.

Dustin Hoffman and John Travolta declined the role for the same reason. When Al Pacino was considered for the role of John Rambo, he turned it down when his request that Rambo be more of a madman was rejected.
