SRV vs. Johnny Winter
First, a brief synopsis of both artists:
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi.../Winter_79.jpg Johnny Winter Born John Dawson Winter III on February 23, 1944, Johnny Winter is widely considered one of the greatest bluesman of his age. Originating from the humblest of settings, both Johnny and his brother Edgar absorbed blues lore from such luminaries as B.B. King, Muddy Waters, and Roy Head. Johnny is known for his southern rock-style of blues, and released a number if qualitie albums that have achieved critical acclaim. The most lauded of his albums are, without a doubt, Johnny Winter and Second Winter, as it is these two albums that fully exemplify his driving blues style. Johnny also performed at the legendary Woodstock music festival. He is easily recognized by his albinism and trademark style of dress. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...RayVaughan.jpg Stevie Ray Vaughn Born October 3, 1954 in Dallas, SRV was a technical innovator and master showman. Whether performing as Double Trouble or with his brother Jimmie, he influenced a generation of guitar players with his confident style and soulful swagger. Notable albums include: In Step and Texas Flood. Basically, if you don't know about SRV then you're either a retard, a weirdo, or a combination of the two. |
What's there to say...I don't realy like threads with "vs" in the middle, but ok...
I like both artists but I think Johnny contributed more to overall music history... |

SRV's sound is Stevie love for all aspects of the guitar, (he's not playing just to get through a song,) he owns the song, he gives it 110% effort, he plays the guitar flawlessly, and he infuses it with emotion - that's the Soul. Another factor of the SRV's sound is his Tone it's his Stratocaster with heavy guage string, and tube amps. etc. He had Soul and Tone. |
I went for Stevie Ray Vaughan because he's a badass motherfucker who can play the hell out of the guitar.
Not that Johnny isn't just less so in my opinion |
I like them both. Johnny has been around longer and is more versatile. Stevie was a guitar monster. Hard to do a vs. thing with these guys, especially if you appreciate them both. One thing for sure, not too many play like them anymore. Too many shredders.
