Bill Evans Trio and Waltz For Debby. Fab piano but loving LaFaro’s bass.

Charles Mingus - Charles Mingus @ Bremen 1964 & 1975

Mingus is the best way to start the day.

Here’s another one pulled from the vaults

Pieces of a Puzzle by David Friesen

Taken from sessions in 82. Not sure this history. Obviously a talented cast. Was released this year trying to latch on to record store day, from what I can figure.

Shorter today with the live album Footprints, which was difficult for my ears, and The Soothsayer.

Solo Monk

I’ve probably listened to this more than any other Monk recording.

This is nice!
Listening to this record in particular gives me a strong impression of free jazz being quite similar to religious/ritualistic/tribal music (no idea what to call it precisely)
