Charles Mingus Sextet W/ Eric Dolphy - Cornell 1964 is a pretty amazing live album that was only released 5 years ago. I'm especially fond of it, because I've been to quite a few shows at Bailey Hall, the venue where it was recorded.

If you're really diggin' Mingus, I can't recommend Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers enough. Both have that intense orchestral post-bop sound. Blakey is a bit more high energy than Mingus, which lends to the appeal. I recommend Moanin' or Free for All to start out with.
