Also (you probably figured this out), Black Saint was the first album on the
"Black Saint" label (and the first album on "Soul Note" was a Billy Harper
album too). If you want to hear any of those, just drop me a PM.

Discogs listing.

Spoiler for Discs:

I'm good but thanks.
Yeah, when I saw that title I immediately thought about the label and checked to see whether there was a relationship.

I really like those guys' album 'Blues'. Is there anything else they've done that's as good?

My personal favourite is the album „Kamienie” from 1974

Especially tracks „Modlitwa” („A Prayer”, probably their greatest), „Koło mego okna” („Next to my window”) and „Czułość niosę tobie” („I being you tenderness”).

I’ve got a music journal called „The Baltic Sea Smells of Crude Oil”, where I break down and recommend bands and songs by polish artists. I’ve done already a post about Breakout. You might check it out, if you’re interested

As a whole this album does less for me. I don't like the more rockish sound that much.
Still there are some pretty cool tracks. Really loving Modlitwa.
I'll check out your journal. I've checked out a bit of Polish music here and there in the past years but I'm no expert. Being eastern european myself it does often awaken a certain nostalgia in my heart and I love the sound of the language.

1. I don’t really feel that it’s more rock sounding. I think the most „hard” track on the album (which I guess would be „Spiekota” or „Pójdę prosto”) aren’t harder than the most rock song on „Blues” (which would be „Oni zaraz przyjdą tu”). I mean, yeah the album often feels more like a Jam, than a compilation of blues composition, but it’s still got the blues

2. Oh. Where you from?

You're actually right. I was a bit stressed and in a hurry when I first checked it out but now I've listened to it again and it's not that different and pretty much as good as Blues. Thanks for the rec.
I'm from the Ukraine, although I moved to Western Europe at a young age.

That's a great song, Safar! Cool beat, slide guitar, spooky vocals - what more does it need?

Thanks for the recommendation of a band I don't know, but will be checking out. :thumb:

Here's something with similar ingredients that you might like:-

Sorry, took the Black Keys literally and went south. Everything said about this song. For me Delta Kream is my discovery of the year. Luv the guitars. Especially on Going down south, Poor boy a long way from home and Sad days, lonely nights.
Thanks for the good recommendation, Lisnaholic. Derek Trucks was a member of the (late) Allman Brothers. Reason enough for me to check him out.

What do y'all think of Lounge Interlude by Gingerr Rust? I heard it in a coffee shop and it caught my attention. I really liked her scatting but would love to hear what real jazz enthusiasts have to say about that kind of jazz fusion sound
