I've been listening to Toronto's Jazz FM a lot lately, and during Jazzology a student from Mohawk U queued up Avishai Cohen - One For Mark. I was really digging the odd time signature, piano lines, upright bass, and smooth percussion.
A quick glance at RYM has a reviewer who remarked, "Wonderfully played, wonderfully put together modern jazz album. Avishai plays a unique blend of post-bop, Israeli folk and classical that is rather complex yet accessible." I'll have to check out the rest of this LP.

If you’re not familiar with this one and like avant garde jazz it’s completely essential You’ll have a friend for life. It’s so good
