This guy has brilliant voice.

I'm listening to this right now and if you want a treat you should give it a listen too. (It's the title track of an album which only disappoints with the tracks that have a bit of spoken word/rap going on.)

With The Heliocentric Worlds of Sun Ra I was initially attracted by the title but then scared off by the music. It turns out that Sun Ra has made about 100 albums though, and so far at least, Other Voices, Other Blues sounds a lot easier on the ears. Here's the excellent opening track of this double album:-

Everyone check out this blues album thanks |
^ Not sure why I left it until today to take your advice, Frownland, but it's a happy circumstance that I'm hearing this on a Sunday morning "when contemplation is best" as Van Morrison once sang. The songs I've heard so far have a quiet quality about them; nice guitar and soothing voice. Will def be exploring this guy's stuff more.
Many thanks. :thumb: |
calling on Frown, OH, grindy and co. to rec me some cool jazz ****. i've heard most of the intro level ****, but i've been listening to a lot recently and i want something a little different. i'm down for anything and everything, conventional or hella wild, and anything in between.

Are you hip to Matana Roberts yet?
|
newp, where does i start?

The Coin Coin series from beginning to end (it's not finished yet) is all you'll need.
Also check out Cecil Taylor, starting with Nefertiti, the Beautiful One Has Come. Do you have a good list of what you have heard? I don't want to ask you if you've heard the best albums from the classics all night. |
