What do you think of Ol' Blue Eyes? I recently bought an album of his for myself, after being brought up on his music.

Do you think he is as important as he is made out? Or do you think his music is no longer relevant?

I thought he had a shite singing voice.
Although it was distinctive and an horses head in the bed didn't do his career any harm either.

Frank Sinatra is a gawd. He put rat-pack music on the map. His music is timeless.

Surprisingly a HUGE fan of sinatra and the rat pack in general, blame my dad for introducing them to me young....

I love Frank! He's one of my favorite. First heard I Won't Dance in What Women Want, never turned back since. Timeless.

He's my dads fave so when every time he listens to his songs, I was able to listen as well.. I like this lines "fly me to the moon.." something more of "in other words..".. Sorry for incomplete lines..=D

I like Sinatra, but I don't know about the oft-repeated claim that he was "THE voice of the 20th Century".

In that particular genre of music, I'd have to go with Bing Crosby. And IMO, there were several in that genre who sang with greater feeling.

I personally can't listen to Frank Sinatra having heard a few of the same songs performed by Michael Buble. I used to like Frank, but compared to Buble, Sinatra sounds like some silly old man grunting at kareoke. Bing Crosby IMO had a nice voice but there was something almost patronising about his timbre.

Buble isn't a patch on Frank. Frank had a distinctive voice and bags of charisma. He also wasn't too bad of an actor in my opinion either.

Buble is the best of the current crop of singers in that genre, but he'll never fill Sinatra's shoes. And I'll bet that Buble would be the first to admit that. I've heard Buble interviewed before, and he has a very deep respect for Sinatra and other old-timers.
