Does anyone remember the piece of music called 'Green Onions', by this band?

Yes.
It was an instrumental. Booker T & The MGs were the in-house band for Stax/Volt, backing for the likes of Sam & Dave and the great Otis Redding.

Green Onions was a big favourite among the mods during the 60s.

Because the first time I ever heard it, I fell in love (sort of) with the tune. It's a great, and slightly groovy, piece of music. I now have it on CD.

Exus Trek - Luther Ingram & His Orchestra, Double Cookin' by the Checkerboard Squares (also known as Strings A GoGo) and a track called Sliced Tomatoes - The Just Brothers...remember Fat Boy Slims 'Funk Soul Brother' (or whatever it was called), well that's the one sampled by Fat Boy Slim (thieving git) and it's a class tune in it's original form.

Great band - Booker T. Jones was a great organ player, too. I love the Hammond B3 Organ… By the way, if you like Booker T's sound, you should check out the master of the B3, Jimmy Smith. A lot of his stuff is now remastered, and finally sounds CD-quality. Also check out John Medeski of Medeski, Martin & Wood - they're a terrific jam band, and John is an incredible organ player.

i love jimmy smith - at the moment, dot com blues is a favourite of mine, but other stuff like the sermon and back at the chicken shack is great too

my favourite medeski martin and wood song is "i wanna ride you" from uninvisible - really funky
