I think he was emphasizing that Robert Johnson didn't practice voodoo.

Has anyone else listened to the Radiolab podcast about Robert Johnson? It's pretty interesting, and as always with them, very well presented. Definitely worth a listen if you enjoy a good and informative story.

It was mentioned in the context of selling one's soul to the devil, and then again in a claim that Screamin' Jay Hawkins was a practitioner, presumably because he used to dress in a campy way that was arguably inspired by American stereotypes about Voodoo. And all I said was I hoped those comments were jokes.
