wade in the water lyrics?
i've been trying to hunt down the lyrics to "wade in the water" by The Staples Singers, and what came up was Eva Cassidy? thats all fine and dandy, but what i soon found out was that the staples lyrics to the song, are quite different than eva's?if someone could possibly post the lyrics to the staples version, i'd be grateful. thanks in advance for any help

Yeah well songs like this, that are considered public domain songs, their subject to change.
If you want an amazing version, try The Blind Boys of Alabama.

Check out these lyrics.^ (interesting site). The Ramsey lewis trio did an amazing instrumental version of Wade In The Water, real off the cuff jamming, incredible...worth downloading from a file share! |

yeah, ive got a version by the RMT - although i dont think its a straight trio because there are definitely horns along with drums, bass and ramsey's piano - i got it on a Chess cd that came with an issue of mojo - i think the one with the White Stripes on the front

Sounds like the one. The track was laid down as he played. Effortlessly improvised in one take.
Released as a single on Chess, then later on the subsidery label Cadet. Your right it was'nt just Ramsey/Young/Holt. Brass is on there too. A massive Northern Soul favourite on the dancefloors here in England. |
