Default Hello!

Hi! I found this site while looking for various forums to post on. While I mostly grew up on modern social media, I really missed posting on an old-school forum...

My name is Nikita (Nick) or Nadezda (Nadya) and I listen to all kinds of music. I grew up listening to whatever my dad would put on the radio (mostly rock), but in middle school I started branching out and listening to stuff from different countries in different languages. I speak three languages, so I'll try to further appreciate whatever I'm listening to by translating it, if I can understand it.

I have a decently sizeable digital collection and have started collecting physical copies of music in recent years. Most of my physical collection comes from Eastern Europe, with all but maybe five of my tapes coming from Lithuania specifically. I'm sure once I get the hang of this forum I'll be talking about them a lot!

My favourite genres are probably the varying forms of disco and synth-pop (which sort of blend in together I think, I'm not a huge genre purist so forgive me if this is blasphemy or something). My personal favourite artist is Viacheslav Dobrynin, but occasionally I'll go through this one VK group to find more obscure artists that probably made their stuff in college. I know a decent bit about Soviet VIA groups, and they're probably one of my favourite types of bands.

I'm not sure if this goes against the 'no self-advertising' rule newbies are subject to, but I'd be open to translating short phrases in Russian or French (to English) if anyone would need that for whatever reason. I'm sure there are Russian- and French-speakers here, but I want to do what I can to be helpful, too

I'm a little intimidated by the size of this forum, so please forgive me if it takes me a minute to post anything outside of just this! Most of the forums I have interacted with previously had maybe 50 members at most, with many being inactive.

Hi Nikita/Nadya! Welcome to the forum! I'm also new aboard. It's interesting that most of your physical collection comes from Eastern Europe, with a significant focus on Lithuanian music. Sharing about your collection and discussing obscure artists or Soviet VIA groups would definitely be exciting for other forum members
