For clarification I found the image, but made up the album review.

That was ****ing brilliant, and the added bonus of being able to taste salty indie tears of actual fans in the forum must have made it all the sweeter!

Yo, what kind of synths do you like/have?

Oh gosh, thank you for asking! I love gushing about synths. Currently I have a Roland D-50, Novation Ultranova, and my trusty Moog Little Phatty. Those are the ones that have stuck with me throughout the years, I've owned at least 20 different synths over the past 18 years I've been playing. My first synth was a Microkorg that I bought in 2005.

My favorite kinds of synths are classic analog Moog and Arp style monosynths, but I also have a huge love for early 80s digital synths like my avatar, the legendary PPG Wave.

Hey!

Toss out a bunch of your fave Prog bands/artists. Always interesting to see how many match up with my own.

Sure! I’ll try to include a good smattering of classics and more obscure stuff...

Yes, Genesis, Jethro Tull, ELP, King Crimson, Gentle Giant, Renaissance, Eloy, Mike Oldfield, Steve Hillage, Camel, Heldon, Pulsar, Curved Air, Syrinx, Jade Warrior, Bo Hansson, and a ton of prog-adjacent electronic stuff like Vangelis, Tangerine Dream, Klaus Schulze, etc.

Ever heard Spock's Beard? A few of their early LPs would definitely be right up your alley.

I have to say, I've been in kind of a Vangelis mode in the past few months. I recently got my turntable up and running after more than a decade, which got me listening to the one Vangelis record I owned (Spiral), which then prompted me to buy more (Beaubourg and China). I'm enjoying all of it.

I will definitely check it out! I admit my knowledge of post-70s prog is pretty woeful, thanks for the rec!

Nice! I did the same after hearing the news of his passing. For more stuff in the same vein, check out Heaven and Hell and Albedo 0.39, the former especially is probably my favorite of his.

My favorite synth I've ever owned is my Moog Little Phatty, which I've owned since 2012 and use for all my main analog tones. I also love my Novation Ultranova just for the sheer breadth of the different sounds it's capable of.

For ones I don't own (and likely never will) but enjoy listening to, I gotta go with the classic Minimoog, Yamaha CS-80, EMS Synthi, ARP 2600, Polymoog, Roland Jupiter 4, Oberheim OB-X, really just analog synths in general, but on the digital side I love the PPG Wave and Korg Wavestation.
