Red face new and looking for music friends <33

hi there! this is my first post and my first time using this website, so i hope if i'm doing this wrong some people can give me tips. but id love to talk a little bit about what music i'm into (or i guess it'd be quicker to say what music i'm not into) and see if people have similar interests

these days i find myself leaning a lot towards baroque pop. my uncle's introduced me to a lot of groups i would never have known about otherwise. some of the major ones that come to mind are the zombies, the left banke, jellyfish, the move, etc. i think the structures and usages in this genre are really unique compared to other ones.

at the same time i'm getting more into prog rock. in my head i split prog rock more into two sides. one side being king crimson, camel, gentle giant, etc and the other being like rush and kansas and yes. maybe the latter has heavier usages of instruments that i associate with, but that might not be right. on an article one time i saw somebody call genesis prog rock and i don't think that's wrong but i'm finding it hard to think why it's right too. if somebody could enlighten me i'd be very willing to listen.

nu-metal is something i really enjoy and am constantly trying to get more into, so i'd love some recs there.

i'm also a big fan of 90s/2000s rap ESPECIALLYYYYY outkast and clipse. ive always been drawn to them, and maybe the dynamics of duos is something i love to see and hear versus just one voice or personality on a track.

two artists i also love that i have no idea which genre they would fall in are tally hall and sparks. both great groups, one with a much longer run though (and yes im prayingggg for a third tally hall album)

shoegaze/slowcore is something i'm particularly interested in since my friend and i are trying to start a slowcore group. honestly making music and writing lyrics in this genre can get kinda depressing, so i'm trying to write happier songs outside of it so i dont lose my mind haha. love it though.

anyways! i'd love to get some tips on how to navigate this site. i'm on the younger side so i've actually never used a discussion board like this before, but i really like it so far. and also i'd love to get any music recs in the genres i listed, but also ones i didn't list at all. i truly love all music in all of its forms and would love to become more knowledgeable about all i can.

hope you have a great day! and hopefully i can figure out one day how to upload a picture so i can show off my two cats (tabby and calico <3)
