Hello (am I really doing this?)
Hello,
I'm not very fond of creating my own introduction thread, I prefer when there's that thread where everybody says hello. But okay :shycouch: As you can see, I'm a big fan of... metal, hardcore punk and guitar alternative stuff. Although I listen to almost all kinds of music. Hoping to have some good talk here. Thanks, |

Welcome to MB, Mo Bounce :wavey:
Your question, "Am I really doing this?", caught my eye because I felt a certain amount of trepidation when I first joined, but I hope that, like me, you won't have any regrets. Why not tell us about some of your favourite bands? - or tell us about the girl in your avatar; perhaps she's a friend of yours ? ;) |

Is this an actual question or are you just joking? lol Anyways, the girl is Iggy Azalea. My favorite bands, that's pretty complicated because I must forget some. Uh, Folk Implosion, Fugazi, Pixies, Pavement, Guided By Voices, Sonic Youth, Galaxie 500, Garbage, Yo La Tengo and the list could definitely go on. Talking about metal and punk rock, I prefer the old fashioned stuff. |
What’s your favorite Sonic Youth record?
|
^ Yes, just a joke really, Mo.
I don't recognize many of the bands you mention, but I might check out Folk Implosion because of the intriguing name. Thanks. |

And to be very honest, I haven't listen carefully to any stuff from NYC Ghost & Flowers onwards. What about you? Quote:
And if you're checking The Folk Implosion (which name is said to be a pun on Jon Spencer Blues Explosion), I'd recommend you to start by The New Folk Implosion record. The previous stuff is too lo-fi. |

On the last line, I not only agree with you but I also have some objections on using "indie rock" to classify a music genre. I usually say, to me, indie is just a condition of a band without label or signed to an independent label, it may be even a heavy metal, a reggae or a boy band act. But I wouldn't figure I would meet someone who's a big fan of Pollard. He's one of the greatest artists to me, and when I say that I'm comparing him to the major stars like Jagger or McCartney and all. I also read something once about some cities declaring a "Guided by Voices day" or something like that. I can't remember exactly what it was. Quote:

Pussy Galore had a huge influence on me.

It took me some time til I got into Pussy Galore and other guitar/garage/noisy stuff. |
