New member... hello...
Hello people, glad to be here...
I'm a big music buff who discovered this forum browsing the interwebs, and I've been lurking for a while... As for my musical tastes, if you pick my headphones one typical day you will probably hear: metal (heavy, thrash, death, black), punk (70s, NY, garage, melodic hardcore), or classic rock (all the "good ones", from Small Faces to Captain Beefheart :thumb: ). I occasionally listen to other styles too. I'm mostly interested in the album reviews section, because I regularly have ideas whenever I listen to music, and I was thinking maybe that section could be a good place to put them, and, at least potentially, having the illusion that they can be of interest to other human beings... Thanks for the opportunity. I look forward to a nice musical banter... :band: |
Salutations to a fellow Captain Beefheart enthusiast. There is a mod on the forum that is also a Captain Beefheart enthusiast and he's quite possibly the most avant-garde moderator ever since creation of the internet by Al Gore to its inevitable destruction by the robot that take over the world in the future when the sea level rises.
My obligatory posting of a video by a band we share common interest in: Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band |
Great video... What a force of nature the guy was...
I find funny that they didn't even try to put psychedelic images in the blue screen... What for, filming the band was psychedelic enough (Next time I'm looking for a drummer, in the requirements I will include "must have his own monocle"... :yeah: ) |

I concur with your comments on Captain Beefheart. I like albums with a lot of "nooks and crannies", and that's why for example I enjoy a lot "Trout Mask Replica", for me it's an infinite record (let alone very fast and bulbous...-- got me?)
Probably "melodic hardcore" is not a commonly accepted definition, and if so I apologize for the possible confusion; I just used the term top of the bat, to describe hardcore punk (=acceleration of original punk) with vocals sung (instead of yelled, as it seems to be popular now). As examples I think of all the Fat Wreck Chords/Epitaph bunch: NOFX, Bad Religion, MXPX, Lagwagon, Pennywise, Burning Heads... I had never listened to 7 seconds, I once tried to search them in YouTube, but given such a generic name, I found all kind of things except a punk band; judging from the video, I'd say they fit the profile... |
Hey I'm really into all the **** you're laying down. What's your favorite heavy album that you've been jamming to recently?

Thank you! Glad to be here... @Blarobbarg Quote:
I've also been very hooked recently with Conception, a Norwegian Prog Metal band that released the EP "My dark symphony" last year. I enjoyed it so much that now I'm digging into the rest of their discography... And for harder stuff, I'm listening a lot to Phil Anselmo & The Illegals, and a couple of bands I discovered lately via online radio, Asphyx ("Last one on Earth") and Incantation ("Onward to Golgotha"). What about you, care to drop a few names? :) |
