Hello

Hi, there.

I haven't got much to say about myself except that I've been looking for a cool forum for a while, now, and that this might just be it.

If I had to describe my taste in one word, I'd call it experimental -- my preferences are generally pretty niche, and even then, limited within that field. I'm heavily inclined toward what I'd describe as textured bleak music.

Favorite genres include classical, with the occasional baroque piece thrown in (always Bach); industrial, along with its post-industrial offshoots like harsh noise, japanoise, power electronics, neofolk (hard to navigate with all the repulsive, fascist rot), and dark ambient; black metal, especially stuff of the ambient variety; and drone/drone doom. I'm also fond of some dreampop and synthpop material.

I look forward to meeting y'all and discovering lots of new music.

Cheers.

Welcome. Your taste in music fits in well here because we're all miserable. Hope you have fun.

welcome to the b̶e̶s̶t̶ worst forum on the internet

Every time I feel embarrassed to be here I remember the various other forums I've visited.

Basically, every other forum I've been to was either cancer or boring.

Thanks. So, what's your favorite subforum, 'round here?

Only helps it feel more like home.

What other forums have you frequented, if you don't mind my asking?

I've had mostly decent experiences, though most forums I've frequented got boring after a bit. Posted on reddit for a while, but I found out quickly that reddit-type discussion ain't really my thing.

I've read tonnes of forums. Had a Reddit account 3-4 times.
Also been posting a little bit on Angry Metal Guy, but that site is so lame. Unicorn memes are so funny!
Especially if it's the only joke every dork on the site is posting for 5 years straight. Barf. And the combo of plebbiness (is that a word?) and snobbishness makes me angry.

Basically, most forums don't really have a culture that I wanna take part in.
Reddit always manages to make me run away screaming after 2 days for whatever reasons, no matter the sub-forum I'm posting in.

I think MusicBanter is just the right mix of relaxed & nerdy without more drama b.s. than you can move around it if you wish to. Most of the time

I usually stick around Name That Tune.

I love the threads that are like "what's the song around 45:23 in this PGA livestream where Tiger Woods pulls out a nine iron? It sounds like a remix???" Either that or some dude asking about a folk song that he doesn't even know exists himself.

Basically if there's one thing you can take away from MB it's that we only name that tune about 25% of the time or less.

It's the only important sub forum.

I named one tune in a noob thread like that ever. 25% is way too high an estimate! By far most of them never get an answer. I just ignore them most of the time.
