What up? Ver. II: Deluxe Unbanned Version
Well, I was banned for a hot couple days because I made short reference to the website I run in one of my sentences talking about my pursuance of journalism in university. If at least one of you suckers visited, you can consider my dastardly plan a success.
I suppose a quick retreading of info is in order. I'm currently a journalism major attending SUNY Oswego. I've been operating a webzine called *********, which officially started back in March. I'm doing my damndest to maintain it while balancing studies. As for what kinda music I like, it's just about everything. Except rap and country. Just kidding, and for all you old-time fans here that was a joke I actually made in the last introduction thread I made so, if you got it, you can come backstage after the show and receive your well-earned brownie points. My first love was rock, Pink Floyd being my catalyst for that almost a decade back. I've gained much respect for bands like The Flaming Lips (possibly my current favorite group), Phish, Supertramp, Traffic, Motorpsycho, R.E.M., and others since then. I'm never one to turn down jazz though, cause guys like Gabor Szabo, Wes Montgomery, Thelonious Monk, and Donald Byrd also rank in my Top 100 Artists of All Time list. Purely mentally of course. Finally, as for what I've been listening to lately, My current love is for a Korean indietronica/neo-psychedelia group (or person, not sure) called Mid-Air Thief. They only just came to my attention through RateYourMusic when a review for their new album Crumbling got front-paged. Excellent stuff. I've also been retreading my ground when it comes to nu-jazz (which I made a topic about in the jazz sub-forum before getting the boot), expanding my horizons from one of my favorite bands Jaga Jazzist into such groups as The Cinematic Orchestra, Dinosaur and, more recently, BADBADNOTGOOD. So that's who I am and what I've been up to. What about you crude dudes/dudettes? Last edited by windsock; 09-03-2018 at 10:36 PM. Reason: change of phrasing |

I listened to Gabor Szabo's Dreams a little while back as I slowly dip my toes into jazz and it was pretty snazzy.

No clue. No resemblance to brownies whatsoever. Management thought it flowed better than "administration-approved congratulatory points".
As for Gabor, my big record I always play is Macho from 1975. It opens with a jazz-funk rendition of Liszt's Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2 which is just fantastic. I highly recommend it as it also is extremely underrated. |
