Might as well try this out.

Hi, I'm new to both this place and to forums in general, but I've been coming here to read threads occasionally lately, so I thought that hell I'd might as well sign up and try to say something myself every now and then. Listen to all kinds of things; mostly happen to fall towards like modern classical, minimalism, free jazz, improv, noise, drone, RIO, Canterbury, kraut, prog, psych, black metal, grindcore, electronic,.... All kinds are really of interest.

Well, yeah?

Frownland 09-01-2018 09:56 AM

Solid genres. What are a few of your favourite artists/bands?

Your username reminds me of Ehnahre

Wasn't aware of this band, but it sounds somewhat interesting from skipping through it briefly just now. Will look into them some more.

Impossible to answer since there are so much, BUT since you paved the way towards exp.metal, I could namedrop a few of my favs in that area.
Anything connected to Carl-Michael Eide (Ved Buens Ende in particular), Zorn-stuff (Painkiller, Naked City), and well maybe some de Jong (Gnaw Their Tongues, SOME Cloak of Altering, etc), stuff like Murmuüre, Law of the Rope, some tech-death like Gorguts, Deathspell Omega, Ulcerate....
Haha, even when narrowing it down like this it's a damn tricky question to answer.... well.

Dude! Your taste is fantastic! It's like reading in a mirror. Please stick around.

Are my letters inverted? Must be something wrong with your browser...

You have any recommendations on similar stuff I might've missed?

grindy 09-02-2018 06:20 AM

Dozens and probably hundreds but we'd have to get more specific.

ehname 09-02-2018 11:01 AM

You're right, there's too much good music.
I don't know which way to specify... Guess we'll just meet in the forum threads and take it from there?

grindy 09-02-2018 02:15 PM

Sure thing.

Randomly happened to stumble in on an old thread where you posted a long list of what music you had on your ipod. And yeah, mirror damn right is the word!

(In case you wonder how the hell I came there it was because that post was this sites only hit when I searched for Maja Ratkje, which is kinda sad tbh...)

Not much these days, unfortunately.
I use my pianos and guitars for collecting dust.

Oriphiel 09-24-2018 05:10 PM

How do you feel about Disco?

It is, right?

Would gladly try any other recommendations on odd disco stuff. Haven't explored it very widely yet...

Oriphiel 09-25-2018 07:17 AM

Do you like Post Punk? There's a ton of bizarre Disco/Funk tracks from out of the scene.

Sure do.

You mean like Lizzy Mercier Descloux? Not very versed in the matter, no.

Oriphiel 09-25-2018 10:09 AM

Yeah. I'm waiting for elph to come in and bring the rec storm. He's a big fan of Lizzy, and dance oriented experimental music in general.

But some weird Disco/Funk/Dance songs I love are Danger by Pylon, Born in Xixax by Nina Hagen, White Mice by Mo-Dettes, Lucky Number by Lene Lovich, Contort Yourself by James Chance and The Contortions (the 12" Disco remix is fun, too), Blue Monday by New Order, stuff like that. And, you know, pretty much everything by Talking Heads.

ehname 09-30-2018 04:11 AM

Been trying to find the time for listening to that comp and some more Lizzy, but how the **** should one be able to listen to everything one wants? There simply is too much music. Anyhow, I came to think of this ex-yugoslavian dancy post-punk band Otroci socializma I listened to quite alot some years ago, and now felt like dropping:

Any love for stuff like this?
