Hello MB world!
Hey there MB world! New girl here. I'm 24, two kids, my friends always seemed impressed when I talk about music. Decided to find a place where others can relate, can't believe I've never stumbled upon this before.
As far as music preferance, I follow the top 100 and love pop music, but more recently I've gotten interested in country. I've heard it called bro country. No idea 😂 Whatever comes up on hot country. Other then popular pop and country songs I've always had an interest in upbeat indie bands. I really enjoy reading about artists and new music releases. My least favorite genre is probably 80's. My dad was always stuck in the 80's and I grew up listening to an endless stream of Pink Floyd, AC/DC, Queen. Guys is that 70's? 😂 Clearly need to be adopted by a veteran member and shown around 😍 I've enjoyed reading posts this morning and excited to be here. Can't wait to get to know some of you. |
I’m kind of important.

Welcome to the site. I'm not big on bro country but I love the more original country(folk) guys.

You'll find most people here who are into country aren't into or hate bro country. It's really seen as the lowest possible level of country. Not that there's anything wrong in your liking it of course, but don't be surprised if nobody else is into it. They won't be. Like Batty says, good country is better to be into. Nevertheless, welcome and yeah, tone down the font as it looks like you're shouting, and since you were ribbing us about being aggressive, you know, if the Jimmy Choo fits .... More good country music you should listen to Also, don't worry about any slagging you get here. We're not real: we're all just disembodied spirits roaming the cyberverse looking for unsuspecting mortal bodies to inhabi - ah, I mean, welcome! :) |

They span both 70s and 80s. The 80s are a mix bag. You just have to look for the gems. I found one and it's called Abacab. If you haven't already you should really listen to Abacab, it's one of the greatest albums ever recorded. If you so happen to like it, whatever you do, don't let Trollheart know. Genesis - Abacab I don't know much of Country, but I like Folk singer-songwriters like Judee Sill and some old County mix Bluegrass like Kate Wolf. Judee Sill - The Kiss Judee Sill - The Pearl Kate Wolf - Eyes of a Painter |
Right on Kate Wolf

Vaylor, welcome! And don't mind these class clowns. Lots of good cake around here hiding under a ridiculous amount of gaudy frosting.
Don't take any of the lame crap personally and you'll quickly learn to like it here. But: DO NOT FEED THE BAT! And Occulthawk is all bluster. He's actually a 33 year obese virgin living in his great aunts' basement. |
Neopolitan, if you start posting in that huge font just to try to get some internet poon, I swear to god I will [insert ominous words that won't get me banned for threatening other members, yet get my point across soundly].
[EDIT: I meant Polly, not OH. My bad OH.] |

I like Jean Ritchie and also Karen Dalton. Jean Ritchie - Hangman (I guess Led Zeppelin stolen the Hangman song from her, right Chula?) Karen Dalton - It Hurts Me Too The guitar work in It Hurts Me Too reminds of the Stones' Love in Vain, which is a cover of Robert Johnson's Love in Vain Blues. I am not saying it note for note, but something about Karen's picking reminds of Love in Vain. The Rolling Stones - Love in Vain Robert Johnson - Love In Vain Blues |

Welcome aboard. I like country as well, but what the **** is bro country? Is that like some hip new variety popular on college campuses, utilizing ironic yet socially conscious dialog? I'm guessing Johnny Cash isn't involved.
|
I'm not sure what bro country is either and I'm an old man. My tastes in country are pretty limited (Cash, Earle...) I do like Neko Case when she does country and Jenny Lewis and the Watson Twins. I guess I'm more of an alt-country person. Anyway, welcome to the forum, Vaylor, and whatever you do, don't type in white. No one will see it :D

Where I live if you meet a chick on tinder and you want to get laid plan on pretending to like bro country. You’ll go to a club with two rooms. One with a DJ blasting Florida Georgia Line another with some cute blond singing/rapping Sam Hunt. If you wanna get laid, buy lots of beer, drink at her speed, keep your eyes planted on hers, oh yeah be sure to park somewhere you can leave your car so you can leave with her in her car so it’s not “creepy”.
