Yo, I'm new on this forum and well, why not making an introduction thread. I'm a 18 years old guy from The Netherlands. Since I don't know exactly what to post in here I'll just drop some of my favourite music:

Favourite music genres: Pop, R&B & Hip-hop.

Favourite music artists: Sia, Beyoncé, Alicia Keys, The Weeknd, Nicki Minaj & Kanye West.

Most hated music artists: Taylor Swift, Meghan Trainor & Iggy Azalea.

I like Alicia Keys, Iggy Azalea, and Nicki Minaj. I don't personally like the rest of the artists you mentioned (especially Meghan Trainor).

She's under most hated though, so we're good to go.

Good because I can tolerate people who have ****ty taste in music (don't we all sometimes); what I can't tolerate is people who respect an artist who makes her career off of being a hater.

Meghan Trainor's breakout song basically empowers insecure chubby teenagers to feel better about themselves by hating on more attractive females. As a cosmetologist, I get tired of witnessing the "Meghan Trainor effect." ****ing either own it proudly, or lose the goddamn weight if it makes you that ****ing bitter.

Frownland 10-06-2016 11:44 AM

TFW complaining about these people adds to their SEO and makes them more valuable (which can increase exposure and career length).

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 10-06-2016 11:44 AM

@Chelsea agreed

You give me too much credit.

Not to forget that the music of Meghan Trainor is outright garbage..

..Imo.

No, you're right, it's pretty godawful. However, pop music is rarely something I'd qualify as musically (or lyrically) complex. It should, however, at least be enjoyable on a shallow level, like a Reese's peanut butter cup (sure, it's not creme brûlée, but at least it provides a modest level of enjoyment in a pinch.). At least the Katy Perry crowd have redeemable entertainment qualities, whereas Megan Trainor's music merely serves to capitalize upon the insecurities of adolescents who happen to possess terrible musical tastes.

Cosmetologist...
You must have to deal with so many annoying people in your line of work.

And that's without counting the customers, too.

I hear this all the time just about different bands usually on the opposite side of the musical spectrum. 9 times out of 10 ICP.

@ Grindy: true

@ Frown: also true

Just based off of this statement alone, I can tell you don't listen to much rap.

Also what? she said **** skinny bitches, the same thing that Nicki Minaj has said.

Skinny chicks have done so much hating on bigger women over the years that they have created Meghan essentially. Along with beauty magazines and the fashion industry that continues to hate on big women.

Also not even just hating on big women but creating a negative image for little girls that end up looking up to certain magazines as an example and then end up with an eating disorder.

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 10-08-2016 06:53 AM

I can't see myself listening to a song that ragged on fat girls, so why would I listen to one that rags on skinny girls? More importantly though is the fact that Meghan Trainor's music sucks for so many more reasons than just lyrics.

djchameleon 10-08-2016 06:54 AM

She barely even ragged on skinny girls though. She said one line and it wasn't as direct as Nicki Minaj's song

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 10-08-2016 06:57 AM

Uhh... she blew up off of a song with a message of "men prefer big girls."

and?

Where is the lie?

But seriously, it's not like she said **** skinny girls, she just said men prefer big girls. big ****ing deal.

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 10-08-2016 07:10 AM

It's a stupid ****ing message as far as I'm concerned, tbh. If you're going to try and statement why not spread something positive like maybe women shouldn't care what men prefer because they aren't here to meet their every need? Idk, I don't really care that much and the song never offended me or anything, I just heard a lot of people say it was some awesome statement for bigger women, but really it's just shaming skinny women and telling young girls they should care what men look for in women.

djchameleon 10-08-2016 09:11 AM

Actually it was telling young girls to be comfortable with their body and they don't have to force themselves to be skinny like all the magazines and the rest of the different industries are telling them.

Only skinny women got upset and decided to make it out to be more negative than it actually was. It was a body positive song.

Because that would be ****ing lame? Oh hey, let's make another Facebook activist song about **** that doesn't make for interesting or engaging lyrics cause we want music to be some empowering statement that's probably just an excuse for an artist to get a pat on the back anyway. Gag.

Lucem Ferre 10-08-2016 09:56 AM

Men don't prefer anything specific because we aren't all the same. Some dudes like their women looking like skeletor and others love harpooning and everything else in between.

It's hard to have a modern debate with someone who is obviously living in 1980's culture-wise. I guarantee you haven't had a fraction of the exposure to the female dynamic that I have. The way women behave when men are present, is MUCH different than when they are amongst themselves.

Thelonious Monkey 10-09-2016 09:33 AM

I like Meghan's music.

No it wasn't. It was a body positive song with the contingency that the listener is thick. And your other assessment that "only skinny women were offended" is also off. Nobody mistakes me for skinny, but I still don't like the fact that Meghan gets praised for "empowering young girls" when all she really accomplished was sending them the message that they'll find their confidence through (1) haterdom and (2) men's approval (like qwerty already said).

Ditto. You'll never hear the word "bitches" more than being a fly on the wall around a group of guys talking about sex.

Thelonious Monkey 10-09-2016 09:46 AM

Oh, and I love this banger right here.

Try listening to the song without any treble, then get back with me.

meghan trainor looks like my uncle's ex wife except she had super dark black hair basically she was a fat bitch too who thought it would be easier to 'embrace' her 'curves' and talk about how ugly 'skinny bitches' are rather than eating less junk and going to the gym :-)

She obviously never actually embraced those curves if she still felt the need to hate on women who look different than her.

And for the record, I would be just as appalled at a skinny woman who gained recognition by hating on either curvy or heavy girls. But if we're being honest, curve-shaming hasn't been a culturally-condoned problem for over a decade. Yes, it happens, but not on a large scale these days, mostly thanks to classy (emphasis on "classy") ladies like Christina Hendricks or Queen Latifah who somehow managed to send positive body images without bullying girls with skinny body types.
