GALLUPING GALLOSHES, are you a Midwesterner, too?! I've been thinking your "accent" is East Coast, but maybe I have that all wrong! It does get cold on the coast too.

Yes, that's true, Janszoon, but when I lived in Boston it was nothing like the bone-chilling 30 below zero degrees F weather of my home state.

I can't decide if AwwSugar's coat is one of those "I'm wearing a cool coat" coats for 15 degree temperatures I recall from East Coast winters...or is it one of those "This is serious-business-I-am-covering-every-inch-of-my-body-to-prevent-frost-bite-and-death" coats I wear out here in the MidWest, where the wind sweeps across the plains with nothing to stop it but one leaning scarecrow, some old rusted trucks, and a few trees not yet toppled to create more cornfields or room for wealthy people's houses up in the last remaining forested areas.

Well, interestingly enough since you mentioned these two cities specifically, I grew up in Boston and lived in Chicago for five years and I have to say I found the winters roughly the same. Maybe it's different in Iowa.

Interesting! I think you are right that Chicago is quite a bit warmer than Iowa...probably due to the Great Lakes and the fact that Chicago is a big city with the warmth from all those buildings and people and cars, etc. Maybe if I had lived outside Boston in some tiny town the temperatures would have been similar to what I experience here.

Well, I will say I remember finding DeKalb a hell of a lot colder than Chicago so you may have a point about the city being warmer.

Dear VEGANGELICA,

I live in New York.

Haha.

I bought the coat for fall. It's really thin. Not a winter coat at all. I don't know what kind of accent I have, though. The end. [=
