Hung out with Linda again yesterday, only this time at my place. Dogs loved that they could roam around without leashes.

^I'm assuming with your recent posts that you and Linda are still doing well?

I don’t know anything about dogs I don’t know. I’m not betting my dog’s life on other dogs being friendly.

i agree with hawk.
not that i would shoot another dog, but i hate when people in public places let their dogs off leash. i don't know anything about stranger dogs temperament and behavior, and the other people don't know anything about my dog. my dog will go nuts if he's on a leash an a non-leashed dog runs up on him, a lot of dogs will. it's irresponsible dog ownership. again that's in a public place, different story altogether in an rv park. |
an RV Park is a shared space
unless it’s in the dog park section you’re supposed to keep your dogs leashes on any sort of campground What I’ve done in the past is pick up my dog and if the other dog’s owner is about I just say it clearly if your dog approaches my dog I’ll kill your dog I’ve done that about 5 times: I’ve gotten angry reactions, frightened reactions, visits and calls later but whatever it is my response is keep your dog on a leash and it won’t be a problem if the dog isn’t around an owner I call animal control If I’m not walking my dog I try to get the dog back to its owner I love dogs but I don’t **** with my dog getting hurt We’re ride and die |

Went on a hike once with a friend and his girlfriend. They let their dogs off the leash and they would always run ahead of us. More than more occasion of us cresting a hill only to see another hiker standing with their hands near their chest in that sort of "I don't like this but I'll try to be calm" sort of way. Friends GF was just like "ohhh they're friendly don't worry". Bitch that ain't up to you. How many people are you going to freak out before you realize courtesy exists. I didn't know her well so I had to bite my tongue but I never took them up on a hike invitation since then. |

I understand the above, but if a random dog comes up to me off leash, I'd just feel it out and be cautious. Unless youre in a bad neighborhood I think it's generally safe to assume the dog is going to be friendly. Otherwise you'd have some crazy white person running towards you yelling their dog is mean and stay away.

I might be the only who disagrees with the above but I've only had a dog through my younger brother so I'm biased. However saying you're gonna kill their dog is unnecessary imo....Unless you're Hawk I guess.

i've had similar experiences hiking, i had to straight up kick a dog in the face to get it off my dog, owner was nowhere to be seen until they caught up a couple minutes later down the trail. i was livid and mulder was traumatized. people are idiots.

Just shout at the dog and kick it if you have to. If you see the owner say "put your dog on a leash, dickhead." :stupid:

I'd be careful with that. In Maryland, a secret service guy of all people shot a Siberian Husky who was playing with his dog and the animal lovers pretty much ran him out of town. |
I'd rather shoot the owner tbh.

Chill pills available at the front desk. Take 2.
1. Our dogs are extremely well trained. They don't run off. They don't run ahead of us. They don't just randomly run after other dogs. One stern "LEAVE IT" from me or Lin and they stop dead in their tracks. 2. We will ask, "is your dog friendly?" If the answer is yes, then it's play time. Our dogs have frequented communal dog parks since they were pups, so other dogs are no big deal for them. If the answer is no, we steer clear out of respect. 3. Mojo and Cali met all of my neighbors yesterday, all of their dogs, the RV park manager, and the dude who built my stairs. They were teddy bears with everyone. And everyone just sucked up the doggie love. 4. You'd have to see my area to understand why we let them off-leash. It's a unique, very secluded place. Linda is 10X more safety conscience with the dogs than me. Her agreeing to let them off-leash speaks volumes. 5. Put your guns away brothers and sisters. |
Did you ask their permission before posting their pic though?
|
If someone has complete verbal control of their dogs I’m cool with it.
There’s people who got it like that. I respect that. It’s rare though. |
