Yeah I hate to be a materialistic twat but they were the schizz and fit like a dream. I replaced them with a pair from next yesterday. Not quite the same!

I don't even consider it materialistic. Eyes can be so easily damaged by light having a decent pair of £100 Oakleys is worth every penny over some tacky £15 pair from Topman. Firstly, they don't break within a week and secondly, they actually protect your eyes instead of just looking cool. So it's definitely not materialism in the same sense that people will pay twice as much for a paid of jeans with the "Levis" brand name on them.

I'm blind in my left eye and the oakleys were certainly the best at protecting my eyes whilst providing a great vision field. They were like second skin! So it does pay to spend more sometimes for sure
