"Frisbee" is a trademarked item by Wham-O. "Disc Golf" is not played using said trademarked items. You could use them in a casual, unsanctioned situation, but you'd probably lose horribly, and they aren't legal for use in sanctioned tournaments. Also, contrary to some errant opinions, Disc Golf didn't happen because of the "Frisbee", it was first played using pie tins.

Besides being a card carrying member of the Grammar Natzi's, I'm also a Disc Golf Natzi.

Not to mention that if you go around a disc golf course calling it Frisbee golf, then you will be looked down upon by the rest of us.

For the origin of the actual "Frisbee", yes it was William Russell Frisbee who owned a bakery that went on to share that name with the trademarked flying discs. The original first "Disc Golf" game used pie tins, but not "Frisbee" pie tins.
