It's thick enough.. I just want it longer, and I keep having to trim it for split ends.. I need to take proper care of it :X

You should use a number 2-guard (or 1 1/2, depending on how dense your beard is) on your clippers over the whole thing, then edge it out with your trimmers to the desired shape. Any half-decent stylist or barber can do this in their sleep. It only costs a few bucks at somewhere like Great Clips, and you'll likely get someone more experienced at facial hair than you would at a more high end salon.
