Also, by a certain age I'd expect an intelligent person to be taking care of them self too.

I don't even respect the IQ test for a multitude of reasons, the biggest one being that people who are offered large cash prizes for doing well tend to do better.

When you have a child/children you can't afford, lower class income with which you somehow manage to scrape by, and still don't bother with birth control, then you are either a moron or a Catholic. The amount of people I know/have known who are guilty of this is proof enough for me that self-sufficiency alone does not make one intelligent.

Also, I don't think it takes all that much intelligence to pay bills: make cash > pay cash > continue to live in domicile. Boom.

Lucem Ferre 09-17-2015 10:00 PM

I never argued that first point.

Just saying, if you can't even do something as simple as support yourself, then how can one be respected as an intelligent adult?

The Batlord 09-17-2015 10:14 PM

Plenty of debilitating psychological reasons why an otherwise intelligent individual might fail at life.

Lucem Ferre 09-17-2015 10:19 PM

Well failing at life really depends on what your goals are, and I never believe a person fails until they give up trying.

How about if an extremely intelligent person keeps trying, but keeps failing due to a mental impediment?

Then its not a failure. They tried, and that's a success in my book.

Aww, you give everyone a trophy. That's so cute.

If you're not failing at life you're doing it wrong.

Be less vague.

In my head I have...

A. The person wasn't as extremely intelligent as they thought they were.

B. They use the impediment as an excuse not to try harder.

C. They should seek help for the impediment.

D. All of the above.

E. It's the fault of a politician, most likely the president.

Either you aren't ****ed in the head, don't know that you're ****ed in the head, or don't want to admit you're ****ed in the head. Or you're a Republican.

Only explanations I can think of.

The person is my 26 year old son. He's ****ing brilliant in a lot of ways. He's tried moving out on his own 6 times now, only to crash and burn every time. The worst being him living homeless on the streets of LA for about 3 months. As part of his many issues, he's got anosognosia.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anosognosia

So trying to get him to see a doctor is virtually impossible. He's self taught and forgotten more about software and computers than I'll ever know. He can talk to you about quantum physics and string theory until your head explodes. He plays proficiently on violin, dulcimer, guitar (electric, acoustic, and classical), and all types of keyboards. The dude is amazing. He just can't settle in with "normal life".

Stop being so cavalier.

You make a good point.

Lucem Ferre 09-18-2015 08:38 PM

I've been diagnosed with several things such as Bipolar disorder, manic depression, hyper sensitivity and even found that I have many of the symptoms of Schizophrenia. I have social anxieties and mass amounts of paranoia at times too.

But I still have a job and pay my bills. I know tons of people that have these issues and are still self reliant. I don't mean to sound Republican at all, but sometimes you just have to suck it up. Like, what do you expect us to do?

Also, there was a reason I asked for it to be more specific. When you merely label it as 'mental impediment' or '****ed up in the head' it leaves me to believe it's over exaggerated. Just get a facebook account, you'll see how many other people think their ****ed up in the head.

RoxyRollah 09-18-2015 08:40 PM

Yer all morons how bout dat?

Good for you Bucky. If I had a star I'd staple it to your forehead.

You are the worst of the worst for people who are really dealing.

"HEY! I'm ****ed up but I'm making it. What the hell is wrong with the rest of you?"

Get a ****ing clue about the big picture.

RoxyRollah 09-18-2015 08:48 PM

Bucky? Do you have your light up shoes?

My only wish tonight is that your pillow is fluffy and cool.

Sleep well Roxy.

(I hope I can)

RoxyRollah 09-18-2015 08:58 PM

It will be cooled with you tears, your sacrifice pleases the oracle.

No, his son. He said that he has that mental illness where he doesn't realize he has a mental illness. Which avoids giving me the true mental illness that is hindering his ability to remain financially independent.

Just they way he described him makes him sound autistic. Autistic people are really smart. My sister is good friends with a family that has a boy who has severe autism yet he can play any song just from hearing it.

RoxyRollah 09-18-2015 09:00 PM

I was lightening the mood, why you gotta get all intense.

The voices in my head tell me to.

RoxyRollah 09-18-2015 09:08 PM

This concerns the oracle.

Lucem Ferre 09-18-2015 09:10 PM

He called me the worst of the worst and that hurt my feelings.

RoxyRollah 09-18-2015 09:12 PM

At this stage, guilty as charged.

Not sure what I'd do without all of my scrips.

Lucem Ferre 09-18-2015 09:18 PM

Chalupa Windows Vista did. Broke my heart. I always thought somebody like Hitler or Stalin or Ronald McDonald were the worst.
