Same bars as yours!

I have my ex-fiancee's name tattooed on me, and I've always loved Black Flag, so I thought, what better way to cover up a tattoo you don't want than huge black bars?

s_k 03-03-2011 05:28 PM

So what does it mean?

It means Black Flag. They were punk rock kids who wanted a cool logo. It's a "Black Flag" you see.

http://www.dimension31.com/Portals/0...-flag-logo.gif

Sansa Stark 03-03-2011 05:32 PM

Yeah I'm pretty sure I covered it, thanks.

Engine 03-03-2011 05:35 PM

You're very welcome.
Yours wasn't there when I posted mine. And mine includes visual aids so I helped yours make more sense you see.

s_k 03-03-2011 05:37 PM

My own forum displays a little red bit of text saying a posting has already been made.
That's so convenient. I really miss that overhere.

So it's just the band. Allright. I thought it had some sort of meaning.
Black Flag's cool. I didn't know this was their logo (I don't know them that well :))

Sansa Stark 03-03-2011 05:38 PM

Not really, I meant to have it go to the iconography

"Black Flag's visual imagery and artwork complemented the themes found in the band's music. Greg Ginn's brother Raymond Ginn, under the pseudonym Raymond Pettibon, created the artwork for all of the band's studio releases with the exceptions of Damaged and the "TV Party" single, as well as providing artwork for the band members to transform into merchandise and gig flyers. When the band found it necessary to change their name from Panic in 1977, it was Pettibon who suggested the new name Black Flag and designed their iconic logo: four vertical black rectangles comprising a stylized rippling black flag. The logo evoked a number of meanings: it was the polar opposite of a white flag of surrender, as well as a symbol for anarchism and a traditional emblem of pirates. As the band gained popularity the logo was graffitied on numerous highway overpasses and other public and private surfaces in and around Los Angeles, drawing the attention of the authorities and contributing to an increase in police presence at Black Flag shows."

Engine 03-03-2011 05:45 PM

Cool, we've both heard of Black Flag. Here's some more Pettibon artwork for you.

The black flag's an icon allright :)

I gotta agree haha.

I went in with a friend who was making an appointment to get his 11th one done. I was talking to the one tattoo artist about getting the Black Flag bars. He said when do you want to do it? I said **** I'll do it now. Sat me down gave me the store min and now I got my tat.

Queen Boo 03-03-2011 08:11 PM

That argument, or whatever it was, was fucking adorable.

Dirty 03-03-2011 10:15 PM

Visual aids > wiki links.

If I saw that tattoo, I'd probably think... Wow... black lines. Great idea. But to each their own of course.

Arya Stark 03-03-2011 10:19 PM

K children.

I'd love to get the My War knife arms on a shoulder, but the four bars are mean too.

I've got 2 black Flag t's, but to people here it makes them think I love flyspray (Black Flags a really popular flyspray) .

you'd probably be stopped by the cops or the FBI if you had that tat in the 80s (something about hardcore inciting mass violence - check out the illuminating documentary of that scene, American Hardcore)

FETCHER. 03-04-2011 01:10 PM

its because they all kept moving about, the lady in the front is the barmaid haha. Me and my mate next to me were the only ones staying still.

s_k 03-04-2011 01:11 PM

It certainly looks like you're having a good time :)

Plus your two pals both are rockin' the eyes closed look. You look like the sober driver next to a bunch of hammered people there haha.

It's been a while:

You probably can't tell, but behind me is supposed to be a sci-fi themed night. Safe to say that the staff are all volunteers.

SUIT UP!

EvilChuck 03-04-2011 05:17 PM

You are a flourescent armband away from being a doorman, congratulations lol

Arya Stark 03-04-2011 05:17 PM

Aww I love the suit one!!

And the others, but the suit is my favourite.

s_k 03-04-2011 05:18 PM

Good to have visuals now man :D.

Arya Stark 03-04-2011 05:19 PM

It would make me not want to get him angry.
Trolls beware.

I swear to God that the night the photo in the suit was taken, I was mistaken for a bouncer. It's taken in the pub toilets.

It happens all the time, when I'm standing just outside to smoke.

hehe well there are other photos of me here, one in the official gallery. But they were really old.

EvilChuck 03-04-2011 05:26 PM

Its the shaved head, and generally intimidating frame. Most doormen are either skinny runts who enjoy having power of being able to turn you away ("no trainers"... when going into a Yates' wine lodge?.. on a fancy dress night?.. behave), or blokes who look like they can really handle themselves. You fit in the second category. I'd not like to spill your drink, lets put it that way

Mojo 03-04-2011 05:31 PM

Hehe, I'd probably end up buying you a drink if you knocked mine over. I actually did once attend an SIA course though, but I never finished it. I could probably work the doors if I wanted to, I just don't want to.

EvilChuck 03-04-2011 05:51 PM

Just so you know, I'm not an attractive woman... there'd be no point in buying me a drink lol.

Last saturday the place I was out drinking in had a bit of trouble in it about 20 minutes after I'd left, the doorman came in to try and break up a scuffle and kick out the troublemakers and one of them got stabbed. So I dont blame you for not wanting to work the doors. Drunk people are annoying lol

You're a good man by my standards.
But then I'm a wuss :D.

The guy next to me was looking at the kafuffle going on between the barmaid and such. You're ridiculously right about them being moagered and me being driver. I wish I got paid on a Thursday and not a Friday :(

Also loving the photos Neil, especially the suit one. Looking smart. :)

Mojo! You look a lot different somehow than in the photo I remember of you standing by that sign near some quaint street. Is it your hair? (Or lack thereof? ;))

You *do* look like a bouncer here...a well-dressed bouncer not to be messed with. Funny, how appearances can be so deceiving. Either that, or my stereotypes about bouncers' personalities are all wrong!

Sounds like my Wednesday night minus the stabbing part.
A friend of mine was stabbed outside of the bar I normally go to by a taxi driver because he was short money.

Well, there is a lack of hair. But I had a hat covering it in that photo anyway. :p:

Nah, 8 out of 10 bouncers are dicks I would say. If a bouncer is doing his job properly then he's there to be responsible for everyone inside and to keep the place safe. If he doesn't do his job properly then he's a power-drunk dickhead with a God complex. Unfortunately I meet the latter more often than the former!
